More photos of Daily Life in Zululand

Braiding hair can take all day.

Babies are harnessed on their mama's backs with a towel and a knot. Married women traditionally wear a shawl, knotted at their neck and cover their heads. This is not mandatory, but shows society they are spoken for.

The girls always appear more stoic, are they trying to appear more mature, or are they indeed wiser with the burden they carry at a young age?

Not sure what the white paste is on the boy on the right, he obviously didn't mind being photographed with it covering his face.
