Our incredible campsite in the Kenai Peninsula State Park, across the bay from Homer. Frankie is finally thirsty enough to drink glacier water after a grueling 8 hour hike.
Bald eagles in front of our camp site on The Spit in Homer.
This picture was taken at 10:00PM in Valdez. Valdez was the most scenic place we've visited. The town is a little boring, though. The original town was destroyed by the earthquake in 1964. They rebuilt Valdez over the next 30 years into a service community for the oil workers.
Denali National Park was an interesting experience for us. We expected to be able to backpack in the back country. Little did we know that there are no trails in the park. This requires you to bushwhack your way through acres of chest high brush without really knowing where to go. We hiked off the main road for 1 hour before flagging down the next bus.
It's Monday, July 28th. We have 4 fuel filters on order to arrive Tuesday. We're still in Glennallen, a "community", not a town. It's been raining for about 5 days straight. This summer is on record as being the coldest, wettest summer in history. Yup, in history.
We're headed to the Open Jam night with our new friend, Derk, a German tourist cycling through Alaska. He's stuck here, too, with a broken rim.
